Year 6 Autumn term curriculum 2026

This term, our learning will be all about understanding the world around us, both past and present. In Science, we will become expert classifiers as we discover how living things are grouped and connected. In Geography, we will investigate some big questions about our changing world, including population growth, migration, climate change and the impact humans have on the environment. As historians, we will use the Census as a fascinating window into the past, uncovering what life was like for Victorian children, workers and families in our local area.

Our creativity will shine in Art as we explore street art, perspective and scale to create powerful artwork with a message. In Design and Technology, we will become playground pioneers, designing and building our own innovative playground structures. In Computing, we will step into the future by exploring Artificial Intelligence, learning how it works, how it creates text and images, and considering the important ethical questions surrounding its use.

In RE, we will deepen our understanding of Hinduism by exploring beliefs, worship, family life and values. Through PSHE, we will focus on building confidence, self-esteem and resilience, whilst learning how to show respect, challenge unfairness, establish healthy boundaries and seek help when needed. And, of course, we will be taking part in a wide range of physical and sporting activities throughout the term, developing teamwork, determination and a love of being active.

From investigating the past to exploring the future, Year 6 is set to be a term full of curiosity, creativity and discovery!
