Welcome Letter
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
Welcome to Year 5!
It’s been a great first week together, settling back into school as well as sharing what’s new for each other since we were last together in Year 3. We are already so impressed by their eagerness to learn, as well as the upbeat energy and wonderful smiles they’ve brought each day. We are looking forward to all the learning, growth and memorable moments we’ll share throughout the year. We’re eager for the year ahead!

Important information about what your child will need each day can be found on the Year 5 homepage Dean Valley Primary School: Year 5 . We have an exciting term ahead in Year 5! On our class page you can take a look at some of the topics and skills we will be exploring across the curriculum in the Autumn Term.
All children will be given a school planner this year. This will further strengthen communication between home and school and will contain key information about homework, spelling tasks, important reminders, and much more. There are also several useful reference pages that can support both you and your child throughout Year 5.
Online homework will be set every Monday. This will include 7 games of TTrockstars, 7 games of Edshed and a spelling test in school. Please find links for these on our class page and login details in their reading record. Every Tuesday, a written literacy and maths task will be set as well. Our Homework club will run every Wednesday until 4pm, where your child can use it as a space to complete their homework or get support on a task they are finding challenging.
We are looking forward to meeting you all on Thursday 17th September at 5.00pm, when we will outline the expectations for the year ahead.
We are excited for a wonderful year filled with curiosity, creativity, joy, and enthusiasm.
