Summer Curriculum

Summer Term 1

Welcome to our final term in Year 2! The Summer Term is set to be full of exciting learning opportunities and memorable experiences. We have lots to look forward to, including a fantastic trip to Manchester Airport to support our learning about the history of flight, a lively visiting production from The Rhyming Bible, our Earth Day litter pick, and of course, Sports Day.

In Literacy, we will be diving into the world of poetry, exploring the key features of poems, developing our reading skills through a focus on tone and intonation, and creating our very own repeating poems all about flying.

In Maths, we will begin by learning about fractions before moving on to time. To help us learn this important life skill, children will even have the opportunity to wear our class watch!

Our History learning will take us on a journey through the history of flight, where we will discover the impact of the Wright brothers and explore how air travel has changed over time. Our airport trip will bring this learning to life, giving children the chance to see older aircraft and compare them with modern-day planes. In Geography, we will travel further afield as we learn about life in Shanghai and compare it to our own lives here in the UK.

It’s going to be a busy, engaging, and fun-filled term, we can’t wait to get started!
