Spring Overview
Through this term, pupils develop curiosity about the world, scientific and historical enquiry skills, and understanding of human and natural environments. Lessons encourage investigation, observation, and critical thinking, supporting confident learners across the curriculum. In Year 4, they will study the Romans, examining how people lived, worked, and travelled during this period. These units develop historical enquiry, helping pupils ask questions, interpret evidence, and understand how the past influences the present.
Throughout this half term, our writing will be inspired by our history topic on the Romans. Pupils will explore what life was like in Roman times, using the idea of a street through time to examine homes, jobs and daily life. They will develop their non-fiction writing skills by researching and writing a non-chronological report about Roman life, using clear subheadings and factual information. Children will learn to use formal language and subordinating clauses to add detail and explain ideas clearly. This unit supports historical understanding while building confidence in informative writing.
Further information about our adventures and learning as well as specific news and notices will be shared through Arbor and the newsletter.
