Year 4 2017 - 2018

Mrs Leicester

Mrs Heys

Where the rain reigns!

Yes, our Spring term 2018 is all about water.

In science we will investigate the water cycle, water in its solid, liquid and gaseous states, learn why its called H2O and explore some watery habitats to find out what creatures live in them.  Geography will see us getting more familiar with the map of Great Britain and the rivers of our home nations. We'll find out why it rains so much in the UK and discover why rivers flow in the directions they do. We will investigate the 3 stages of a river's course and extend our knowledge of river life through the study of some specific rivers - not least the Esk, since we'll be heading off to Eskdale on residential later this year.

We have already been to see 'Treasure Island' at the New Vic in Stoke this term and it has been the focus of our Literacy, as well as fraction and coordinate work in maths. Michael Morpurgo's 'Kensuke's Kingdom' takes us further afield aboard ship after half term.

Shipmates should have their READING JOURNALS with them EVERY DAY and also come prepared for the following regular activities.  Any additional needs will be communicated to parents, usually via the Class Dojo.

Monday:            Indoor PE

Tuesday:           Swimming

Thursday :        Outdoor PE

Friday:              Orchestra,  Homework usually due on a Friday.

Regulation, named, indoor PE kit (black shorts and pumps with red or white T-shirt) needs to be in school all the time and long hair ALWAYS tied back. Thank you.
