Reception 2019 - 2020

Mrs Dumbleton

Hello and welcome to our Reception Class Page 2019-2020

Last term we welcomed each child into our school and they took on lots of new learning challenges. Ensuring that your child is happy and settled at our school is always of upmost importance. We took small steps to ensure they become familiar with their surroundings and routines of the day, while making it as fun and exciting as possible.

Our theme for this term is Explorers.  We will follow the children’s interests to see where our learning takes us. We will look at the continents and what life is like in each of these places. We will learn about animals, weather, people, food and any other lines of enquiry the children may have. Linking in as many ficton and no-fictions texts as possible.

Phonics, letter formation, maths and literacy skills are taught daily in practical and engaging ways. Quality continuous provision also has a vital role in your child’s day.

“Children live in a world of wonder.”

Play is planning, creating, negotiating, challenging yourself, challenging others, enquiring, conversation, guiding, mark making, maths and having fun. The list is endless.

So if you ask your child what they have done today and they say they can’t remember, it is probably because they have been so busy doing some or all of the above.

I am available to contact before or after school (after school works better.) Via messenger on Class Dojo or email
