It is important to note that on the grounds of safety and insurance, children should not arrive at school before 8.45am except by prior arrangement with the Headteacher. Pupils should line up ready to enter school at 8.50am for morning registration at 8.55am and at 1.10pm for afternoon registration at 1.15pm. Pupils are allowed to enter school five minutes before the beginning of the morning/afternoon sessions in order to make a prompt start to registration and lessons. No child is allowed to leave school before the end of a session unless a WRITTEN request is received from the parents. The school is required by law to be open for 190 days a year (380 sessions). A list of current holiday dates is available to view on the school website.
The register is taken twice daily, at the beginning of the morning and afternoon sessions. This is a legal obligation, and late arrivals have to be recorded. Late arrivals should enter through the main entrance and be signed in. This is for Health & Safety reasons.
In the event of illness, parents are asked to contact the school on the first day of absence, and send in a dated covering note on the child’s return, so that absences are authorised.
