Safer Internet Day 2017

On Tuesday 7th February Dean Valley will be holding a whole school E -Safety Day. Classes across the school will learn about internet safety and how to keep themselves safe whilst online.

Learning will be  made accessible and appropriate to children of different ages. Some of our younger pupils enjoyed the Digi Duck story (click the link to read it) whilst our older children will hold debates, discussions, different activities and watch a video (see our CEOP video under the E-Safety tab).

PC Commins Parents' Workshop

In preparation for Safer Internet Day, on Monday 30th January, Cheshire East's Safer Schools Police Officer, PC Jane Commins, spent the morning talking to our parents and carers about how to protect children when online.  The morning was informative, full of great advice, and supportive for our parents and carers. She then followed this up with age appropriate assemblies for the children.

“How do you stop a child from drowning?  The answer is simple; you teach them how to swim. We don’t go around building walls around rivers, lakes, seas and swimming pools. We don’t stop them from getting into the water. We teach them how to swim. We equip them with the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding.  The same can be said of e-afety, we must educate our children on how to recognise danger, what to do and who to go to.”
